Tony Barber is a golf professional and retired Colonel of the United States armed forces. In his 28-year career as an army aviator, Tony held a multitude of leadership positions and retired as a Colonel in 2010, having achieved brigade-level command.
Barber's passion for golf stemmed from his work with Carolina Section and Lifetime PGA Member, Jimmy Koosa, in 1997. The two became close friends and Mr. Koosa began mentoring Tony on how to teach and play the game. Tony’s amateur success on the club championship and member-guest circuit sparked him to pursue his newfound passion as an instructor and mentor.
After his retirement, Tony enrolled in Keiser University’s College of Golf where he graduated with Honors and earned his degree in Golf Management. While at Keiser University, he studied under Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers T.J. Tomasi and Golf Digest's Top 50 Women Teacher Donna White.
Tony also studied motor movements and golf sequencing under the PGA’s Director of Fitness, David Donatucci. This led to Tony’s certification as a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Instructor. He is also an Impact Zone Certified Player.
Tony served as the Oxbridge girls’ golf coach from 2014-2017 leading his girls to their first state finals as a school. Many of his students have gone on to play collegiate-level golf. As a mentor, Tony has guided several of his students through Bachelor of Science degree programs in PGA Golf Management.
